Winter at the Beehive - painting by Geraldine McKeown

Winter at the Beehive depicts the pre-Revolutionary stone buildings at the Beehive, so-called because in Colonial days the site was bustling with activity. The westernmost building was a cooper's shop at the time of the Revolution. The center structure was a private residence and the former Wallace tavern stands imposingly to the east. Today these classic beauties of the Maryland countryside stand in quiet dignity, a link to our Colonial heritage.
