Easton Plein Air Competition & Arts Festival July 6 - 10, 2005

I participated in the Plein Air Competition & Arts Festival in Historic Downtown Easton, Maryland from July 6 - 10, 2005. 50 artists were selected to compete from over 90 who applied. The public was invited to watch professional Plein Air painters from across America as well as local favorites painting in Plein Air (French for "in the open air") along the streets of Easton on July 7 - 9.

The juror, Scott Burdick, awarded Best Floral Painting to my watercolor of Mason's Restaurant in Easton. Each artist completed two paintings, which were judged for awards and exhibited in the Easton Academy Art Museum.

Wilmington Wonderland 2005

My granddaughter, Rachel Dolor and I have once again created fiberglass figures for the city of Wilmington. The theme this year is snowmen. We created For the Birds to depict a father snowman feeding his feathered friends who are perched on his body and carrot nose. Seeds have fallen from a bag onto his snowy body.

We turned the baby snowman into Bremen Town Musicians, our adaptation of the children's story by the same title. A rooster and cat are perched on the shoulders of a donkey and they are standing upon a book. This was a favorite story that I read to my grandchildren when they were small.

Our snowmen and 25 more lined the streets of Wilmington, Delaware until October when they were sold at auction.

In 2002 the Delaware College of Art and Design and the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation joined together to host Dino Days in Wilmington. Artists created designs for Fiberglass Dinosaurs and the selected dinos were on display in Downtown Wilmington until October. At that time they were auctioned off at a gala fundraiser.

My design for Uncle Samosaurus was one of the 45 selected and at the auction was sold for $5200! He was also one of several selected to be made into adorable miniatures which are available for purchase.

In 2003 my design for Santasaursus was among those chosen. The family and I worked hard on our dino, and the Grand Unveiling was on May 14th in Wilmington. The Dinos were exhibited on the streets of Wilmington until the auction in October where Santosaurus raised $1500.
